The Conductor

Michael Pauser (*1987) studied historical musicology at the Franz Liszt University of Music in Weimar after graduating from high school in Glauchau. He also received training in orchestral conducting during his studies there. Additionally, he pursued a degree in philosophy at the Friedrich Schiller University in Jena. Currently, he is a doctoral candidate at the Institute of Musicology Weimar-Jena, conducting research on the topic "Sacred music of the composer Luigi Cherubini."

Alongside his studies at the Institute of Musicology Weimar-Jena and at the German Study Center in Venice, he engaged in various activities. He served as a lecturer for musicology in Weimar and Jena and works as a (co-)editor for several music scores as well as an author and co-editor for series of publications and professional journals.

From 2019 to 2021, he worked as a dramaturgical assistant for the Vogtland Philharmonic Orchestra Greiz/Reichenbach, and since 2022, he has been the concert dramaturge for the orchestra. In addition to introducing concerts, he regularly appears as a moderator for classical and crossover concerts and as a speaker in children's concerts.

His practical involvement in music ranges from participating in choirs and orchestras as well as conducting them, to writing arrangements and compositions, and being actively engaged in associations and committees. Since March 2008, he has been serving as the choirmaster of the Langenbernsdorf Singing Society e. V. and, since 2021, as the choir conductor of the "Alexander von Humboldt" Gymnasium in Werdau, a choir he co-founded.

Since July 2023, he is also the conductor of the Saxon Symphony Orchestra Chemnitz e. V. Moreover, he has led numerous concert projects with ensembles of all kinds.
